Operations: The Logistics Behind Your Car Donation Program

We've Created the Largest Network in the Industry

CARS is free to work with any vendor. Since 2003, we've estabilished the largest network of auto vendors in the industry built on trust, integrity, and service. We evaluate and monitor each vendor to ensure they provide the best service while interacting face to face with your donors.

Programs with only one supplier lack the ability to shop their vehicles for the best service and price because they are forced to send the inventory to a limited number of sale outlets. This method is a disservice to both nonprofits and donors because it often results in more donor complaints and less revenue for your program.

We Find the Right Buyer for Every Vehicle

Every donation is individually evaluated by the CARS operations staff prior to assigning the vehicle to a vendor. We strive to get the vehicle in the best sale-ready condition as possible to maximize the value, including washing the cars and making major or minor mechanical repairs.

Vehicles may be sold at auction where CARS places floor bids and counter bids to ensure each vehicle is sold for the highest price. Lower-end vehicles may be sold directly to auto recyclers, which avoids costly tow fees and returns a higher net revenue to our nonprofit partner.

"We strive to pick up every vehicle, running or not. As a nonprofit ourselves, we understand that every donor matters and every dollar counts. We even accept specialty vehicles like boats, planes, RVs, trailers, and more. I personally monitor the sale of specialty items like classic cars. We have great relationships with auctions like Barrett Jackson and Mecum, and they are happy to support nonprofits through vehicle donations."
